Literature can also imply an artistic use of words for the sake of art alone. The African concept includes oral literature, while European views of literature often stressed a separation of art and content, African awareness is all inclusive. The African novel is the most important example of the genre of fiction. In this unit, we shall find out the major problems that have prevailed in the development of the African novel.
